Advance Reviews - Sweet For Sing We Now of Christmas!

As I'm still adjusting to life as an author, one of the sweetest things I've experienced with my last few releases is advance reviews.  My first few times out with my novels I waited what seemed like a very long time to start gaining reviews but thanks to my wonderful publisher, Rebel Ink Press,  I've got two good reviews (or in the case of the one from Manic Readers, as my friend Paul said "Good? That's a GREAT review!) for my upcoming Christmas release Sing We Now of Christmas!

One - from Manic Readers (thanks to reviewer Alberta) reads thus:

MR Review
Reviewer: Alberta
Jessica has loved Johnny almost forever. On the 4thof July weekend she sends him off on a solitary fishing trip from which he doesn’t return. His capsized boat is found, with no trace of him. Jessica knows he would never leave her without saying goodbye, so for months she won’t hold a funeral, believing he will return to her.
In the meantime, Johnny has washed up on shore, with amnesia. Jessica senses that he’s still alive, and he will return to her at Christmas. Her family thinks she is having delusions at best, and a nervous breakdown at worst, and they try and get her to face the reality that Johnny is dead.
How will Johnny regain his memory, and can he really make it back to Jessica at the appointed hour?
I like all of Sontheimer Murphy’s books and have reviewed at least two more lately. She writes about ordinary everyday people who shop at Wal-Mart and eat at Burger King. I love all her characters, her wonderful descriptions of the mountains and hills where she lives and sets her stories. You’ll love her and look for more stories like Sing We Now of Christmas.

And my other advance review from Sizzling Hot Book Reviews ( A three star (good - read it when you can rating) says:

Sing We Now of Christmas by Lee Ann Sontheimer Murphy

Sing We Now of Christmas by Lee Ann Sontheimer Murphy is a Christmas Romance that will warm the reader’s heart. Sing We Now of Christmas is chalked full of love, devotion, hope, and perseverance. Sing We Now of Christmas is a wonderful and delightful read.
When Jessica Martin met Johnny Devereaux that December, holiday magic filled the air. But their love was no enchantment. He was without doubt the love of her life and by summer, they were happy newlyweds with their life and many more holidays ahead.
But when Johnny failed to return home from a fishing trip on the Fourth of July, Jessica’s world was rocked to the foundation. When the authorities tell her that her husband is missing and presumed dead, Jessica refuses to believe it.
As the months and seasons pass, no one holds out hope but Jessica believes.
She knows he’ll be home for Christmas. Her family calls her crazy and Johnny’s family tries to help her find closure but Jessica’s heart refuses to surrender.
And when Christmas comes, the truth will shock them all.
Johhny and Jessica Deveraux is the couple that romance novels envy. They are a perfect example of what marriage should be. From the moment they met in that “honkey tonk” bar there was an instant connection. It was like they had always known each other that they were destined to be together; and even though it sounds corny and clichéd it was love a first sight. So when Johnny didn’t come home from his fishing trip after a horrific storm Jessica and the rest of his family were devastated. Even more so later when they received the call from the local police that said his boat was found capsized. There was no trace of him so they presumed he was drowned. When the search continued to come up empty they assumed his body had been dragged elsewhere by the storm. They assumed he was dead.
Jessica can’t accept that her beloved Johnny is dead…she just can’t. She can still sense and feel him. She refuses to let anyone hold a memorial for him. She refused to let go of her love because deep down in her gut there is a nagging feeling that Johnny still breaths and lives. Where he is she doesn’t know but she won’t give up until he is in her arms once again. Everyone thinks she is crazy or that she needs counseling but she knows that isn’t so. One day they will see what she knows to be true will be revealed. Will she ever find him? Will she know his love again? Or will she be the widow everyone seems to think that she is?
Johnny went out on the lake on the wrong day. When the storm hit he knew he had to make back home but the storm was too violent. He knew that he had to jump out of his boat when it was about capsize. He manages to make it back to shore and plans to get back as quickly as he can so that Jessica won’t worry. So that she will know he is alright. He manages to do so and then hitches a ride. Then everything goes blank. The next thing he knows is he is in a hospital and he knows no one. He is lost. Who is he? Where is he from? Where does he live? Who is the woman he keeps seeing in his mind? Will he ever remember? Or will he be lost forever? Is their hope that his past and his future will merge as one?
Sing We Now of Christmas was a quick and easy read, albeit it is a bit predictable. I don’t feel that the predictability took away my enjoyment of the story though. I loved Jessica’s faith and hope throughout Sing We Now of Christmas. I am not sure that I could hold my ground when everyone thought I was crazy. I think I would not have held as tight as she did. I think after the first month I would have probably come to the same conclusion as everyone else. I personally loved the connection that Jessica and Johnny had. It defied definition and went beyond what most people expect in love, but it should be what we all strive to have. Sing We Now of Christmas is a sweet little romance that will warm the heart of its readers and remind them what it means to have faith and hope in something other than what you can see. I recommend Sing We Now of Christmas to anyone who enjoys romances and Christmas themed stories.

So the advance reviews make me happy - now I'm waiting for release day!
