Another Way To Make A Difference Just By Reading!

When tragedy or disaster strikes, we all want to help.  In our communities we respond with volunteer work, by sending flowers at someone's passing, or by bringing a casserole to a family undergoing complications whether it is an illness or a loss.  Many of us have our favorite causes or charities that we give our dollars toward.

Because in the 21st century, we are truly a global community, we rally to help whenever and wherever disaster strikes.

Writers are finding a new way to help by donating the proceeds from their work where it is needed most.  Earlier this week, I shared information about reading for a cause, about JoAnne Kenrick's book When A Mullo Loves A Woman and today another writer steps forward with an easy, even enjoyable way to help Japan in their current crisis.

Romance writer Elizabeth Black has teamed with her publisher, Romance Divine, to earmark all sales from her erotic short story, Fountain of Youth, through June 15 to the Red Cross to help Japan recover from their recent events.

As just a personal note - I'm partial to the Red Cross because years ago when my family was left homeless by a major tornado, the Red Cross came through to help us, something I will never forget.

Here are the details from the official press release:

From Elizabeth's press release:

The world was shocked at the destruction caused by the Sendai earthquake and tsunami that devastated Japan in March of 2011. What can a writer do?

Searching for a way to help relief efforts, Ms. Black and her publisher Romance Divine, LLC collaborated to earmark all sales of her short erotic story Fountain of Youth through June 15, 2011 to be donated to the Red Cross foundation to assist the Japanese in their recovery.

Fountain of Youth is particularly appropriate as it is an m/m erotic short story based on a Japanese folk tale. In Ms. Black's Americanized version, as in the Japanese original, a lesson is learned: be careful what you wish for. What if you could have a do-over; a second chance at love and romance with the object of your heart’s desire? What would you wish for? Careful, sometimes wishes do come true, but they might not always be exactly what you expect. Sydney finds romance, and changes, after discovering a secret Fountain Of Youth
